When is the last time you did something for you? Something that was building into your future? If you could give your younger self some advice, yourself 10, 20, 30 years ago, what advice would it be?

Say no to things that drain you?

Plan to save?

Eat more nutrient dense food?

Don’t sweat the small stuff?

Be present for people you love?

Be careful what you allow your mind to dwell on?

Sit in the sunshine and enjoy the moments?

Don’t believe everything you see on Social Media?

Take a moment and think about these things and the advice you would give yourself. As we head into this next season let’s not neglect our own needs. We are best able to care for others when we have first cared for ourselves. Taking moments to care for ourselves carry long lasting benefits which may include lower stress levels, a more positive outlook, improved mental health, the capacity to help others, more energy and better sleep.

You know better than anyone what your future self needs, start building towards it. Every small step counts. We don’t ever make one giant leap from where we are to where we want to be. Set backs are normal but consistency will get you there. One small change at a time. The next 10 years will go by faster than we think, make it count. Your future self will thank you.
