The festive season is finally upon us, and for most of us that means the privilege of getting to spend quality time with our friends and family. Inevitably that will involve entertaining. Nothing beats spending a sunny Sunday afternoon outside with family around a braai, or sharing some home cooked goodness, with friends in the lounge, on a rainy public holiday.
Entertaining is such a vital part of our nature as humans. Across the globe and through all cultures value is placed on sharing a meal and quality time with family or friends. We bond with each other during these times of social interaction. There is something really special and fulfilling about preparing a meal or baking something delightful and then sharing it with those we love. We all have our own unique and favourite ways to entertain or to be entertained.
If hosting a group of people at your house is not your cup of tea, there are still plenty ways for you to partake in the festivity and joys that entertaining has to offer. When you visit your friends home for dinner consider baking some dessert, or bread to go with the meal. You will find that the effort and care that you put into preparing a dish is far more important than what you produce. People love the fact that you have contributed something to the gathering by putting in effort and trying your hand at something new.
To help you out, we have included some nice simple recipes that you can try your hand at. Step out of your comfort zone this season and give one a try. The responses you get will almost certainly only be positive.
This year has been a hard one for so many of us, embrace the year end, soak up the quality time you can get with your friends and family and try find ways to help add something to the festive cheer if you are able to be together.
